A Book My Child Adores: Somewhere in Australia

A Book My Child Adores: Somewhere in Australia

To celebrate CBCA Book Week 2018, I’ve asked some of my favourite bloggers to share a book that one or more of their children adores. Ania from The Sane Mum shares a lovely Aussie animal picture book.

Somewhere in Australia (written by Marcello Pennachio and illustrated by Danny Snell) is a beautifully illustrated rhyme story about different Australian animals and their babies. The book is fun for young children with some repetitions and counting from number one through to ten.

It is currently one of my favourite books to read as a bedtime story. It is relatively quick to read and it keeps smiles on mine and my daughters faces throughout, as the most peculiar Aussie animal mummies are presented with their babies. A redback spider mumma included!

The book is suitable for a wide range of ages – from babies all the way through to kids learning to read. My 6 year old is very much enjoying it, especially since we travelled in a caravan for four months recently and have seen many of the animals that are mentioned in Somewhere in Australia, out in the wild along our travels!

Ania from The Sane Mum is a minimalism-loving mum of three young kids, living in beautiful, red, country Western Australia! She loves coffee, sun, beach, and books – ideally all at the same time while overlooking her kids building sand castles. She’s on a mission to help mums squeeze out all the joy they can out of motherhood! To help them distance themselves from the overwhelm, drop the guilt, enjoy the little things and create amazing memories with their families. Find The Sane Mum on her blog, Facebook and Instagram, as well as over at Travelling Family Australia.
