SUMMARY:Biennale of Sydney Family Day (White Bay Power Station)
DESCRIPTION:Open House: Leave Your Shoes By the Door is a participatory activation inviting families and visitors to reflect on the home as a site of healing\, memory and care. \n“Rooted in islamic tradition of dhiyafah (hospitality) and Salaturahmi (fostering bonds of kinship and connection) the rituals of home are extended to the public as gestures of reparation and re-connection. The domestic space is entrusted with Amanah; a moral and spiritual responsibility to care for those who enter it. It holds cultural rituals and memories that we embody to nourish our communities and foster a sense of belonging. Our practice as a collective reclaims domesticity and its agency to be the departure point for post-colonial futures of nearness\, co-existence and solidarity. \nResponding to the theme of Rememory\, we will be facilitating activations that reflect the customs and memory of home and the value of generosity and care as building blocks for community and belonging. Through our activation\, we will discover what alternative forms emerge when rest and reflection are at the forefront.” \nFamily Days at the 25th Biennale of Sydney are a celebration of creativity\, colour\, and connection! SUMMARY:I See You Like This (Riverside Theatres)
DESCRIPTION:How does your child see you? Become the subject of your child’s imagination with an artwork that uses your face as their canvas!  \n\n\nWith our ever-growing appetite to document our lives through photos and selfies\, children are so often the reluctant subjects of their parent’s cameras; asked to smile\, look natural\, look that way\, and come in closer.   \n I See you Like This turns the camera back and allows children to see their parents as subjects through the lens of their own imaginations.  \n Children are given permission to observe and portray their parent\, while parents are able to experience being ‘seen’ by their child. Each child artist chooses an object\, which best represents this adult subject\, before art directing a creative portrait directly onto their face! \nI See You Like This is an acclaimed interactive art experience created by Jessica Wilson with designer Matilda Woodroofe to celebrate the fascinating relationship that is at the heart of individual identity – between parent and child. It has toured Australia\, Europe and the USA amassing a collection of nearly 2000 portraits!  \nSchedule: \nTuesday 7 October – 10:30a.m.\, 11:30a.m.\, 12:30p.m.\, 1:30p.m.\nWednesday 8 October – 10:30a.m.\, 11:30a.m.\, 12:30p.m.\, 1:30p.m.\nThursday 9 October – 10:30a.m.\, 11:30a.m.\, 12:30p.m.\, 1:30p.m.
